WORSHIP SERVICE
Fremont
offers two opportunities for worship on Sunday mornings, an
informal communion service beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th
Sundays of each month, and a worship service beginning
at
10:30 a.m.
every Sunday.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School for all ages is from 9:15-10:15
a.m. from September through May. Children and youth
are grouped by age. Adult classes cover a variety of subjects
and interests.
Nursery for ages 0 - 4
Fremont
provides nursery care for children ages 0 to 4 during worship
services, and during Sunday School so their parents may help
teach or participate in a class.
Children ages 3 – fifth grade
Because children
learn in different ways, we have converted our traditional
classrooms into exciting workshops. D.O.C.K. (Disciples of
Christ’s Kingdom) provides opportunities for our children to
experience the feeling and meaning of God’s word through active
participation in Drama, Art, Music, Science, Games, and
Cooking workshops.
Each
5-week
unit focuses on one Bible Story.
Over the course of the unit, the
classes
are guided by
a
Shepherd who travels with the
children each week to
experience a different workshop.
All children gather together in room 5 at the end of their
classes for a time of singing and sharing.
Check the bulletin board in the narthex or
the bulletin board by the office to locate the age-appropriate
classroom for your child.
Middle School and High School
Youth
Middle school and high school
youth meet for Sunday school in the youth
lounge on the lower level.
Middle school and high school youth also
meet for fun and fellowship on Sunday evenings.
Middle school meets from 5-6:30 pm, and
high school meets from 5:30-8 pm. They share a light supper from
6 to 6:30 pm. Check the youth calendar for specific times on
specific dates.
Sunday mornings for adults
Adult classes meet on
Sunday morning, too! Our winter class beginning January 13
features
Christianity for the Rest of us: How the Neighborhood Church is
Transforming the Faith
by Diana Butler Bass. This book looks at churches that are
flourishing, and offers a how-to approach for Protestants eager
to remain faithful to their tradition while becoming a vital
spiritual community. As Butler Bass delved into the rich
spiritual life of various Episcopal, United Methodist, Disciples
of Christ, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, and Lutheran
churches, certain consistent practices—such as hospitality,
contemplation, diversity, justice, discernment, and
worship—emerged as core expressions of congregations seeking to
rediscover authentic Christian faith and witness today.
Pastor
Wendy is leading this class.
WEEKDAY OFFERINGS
Tuesday Morning Bible Study
On Tuesday mornings
from 9:30 – 11 a.m., a Bible study based on the Lectionary
scriptures for the next Sunday meets in the narthex. This class
is led by the Revs. Wendy Woodworth,
Lois Wagner, Patricia Kessel.
Tuesday Evenings
Our fall evening class beginning January 15
a new
short-term Disciple Bible study, "Invitation to John." In the
very first chapter of John’s Gospel, Jesus issues two
invitations: “Come and see,” and “Follow me.” They echo the
invitations of this study: to come and see this Jesus—to hear
him speak, to see his signs—and to consider anew what it means
to be his followers. Pastor Wendy is leading this study.
