WORSHIP SERVICE

Fremont offers two opportunities for worship on Sunday mornings, an informal communion service beginning at 8:30 a.m., and a worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School for all ages is from 9:15-10:15 a.m. from September through May. Children and youth are grouped by age. Adult classes cover a variety of subjects and interests.

Nursery for ages 0 - 4

Fremont provides nursery care for children ages 0 to 4 during worship services, and during Sunday School so their parents may help teach or participate in a class.

Children ages 3 – fifth grade

Because children learn in different ways, we have converted our traditional classrooms into exciting workshops. D.O.C.K. (Disciples of Christ’s Kingdom) provides opportunities for our children to experience the feeling and meaning of God’s word through active participation in Drama, Art, Music, Science, Games, and Cooking workshops.

Each 5-week unit focuses on one Bible Story. Over the course of the unit, the classes are guided by a Shepherd who travels with the children each week to experience a different workshop. All children gather together in room 5 at the end of their classes for a time of singing and sharing.

Check the bulletin board in the narthex or the bulletin board by the office to locate the age-appropriate classroom for your child.

Middle School and High School Youth

Middle school and high school youth meet for Sunday school in the youth lounge on the lower level.

Middle school and high school youth also meet for fun and fellowship on Sunday evenings. Middle school meets from 4:30-6:30 pm, and high school meets from 5:30-8 pm. They share a light supper from 6 to 6:30 pm.

Sunday mornings for adults

Adult classes meet on Sunday morning, too! Our fall class beginning September 16 features feature C.S. Song's Tracing the Footsteps of God: Discovering What You Really Believe. For C. S. Song, theology begins with the conviction that God is somehow at work in our lives and our world, often in ways we hardly perceive. Interrogating our own experience in the light of the gospel is, for him, the heart of theology. Song provides a process for readers to ask themselves: What do I believe? As he says, "What you will find here is a process leading from our daily experiences to our awareness of God in the world internal and external to us.... Stories of our life turn out to be stories of God." Pastor Wendy will be leading this class. Books are $15, scholarships available.

Sunday afternoons

At 5 pm we offer a parenting workshop, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk based on the book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. This workshop style class (no book!) will be led by Ann Donaca Sullivan beginning September 16.

WEEKDAY OFFERINGS

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

On Tuesday mornings from 9:30 – 11 a.m., a Bible study based on the Lectionary scriptures for the next Sunday meets in the narthex. This class is led by Wendy Woodworth, Lois Wagner, Patricia Kessel and Don Frueh.

Tuesday Evenings

Our fall evening class beginning September 18 is Saving Jesus, a  DVD-based small group exploration of Jesus Christ for the third millennium. Featuring leading religious voices of our day, the 12-week program follows a basic format for weekly 1 - 1½ hour sessions that include conversation around the readings, a 20-minute video segment and guided discussion. Join Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan, Matthew Fox, Amy-Jill Levine, James Forbes and a host of others for a conversation around the relevance of Jesus Christ for today.
