Pastor:
Rev. Erin Martin, she, her, hers
Pastor Erin’s camp name is “Rev. Jellybean” for her love of all things candy. Usually, you can find her deep in a novel (she has read all of the Pulitzer Prize winners) or dancing to the latest pop tune in her living room (her favorite is Hip-Hop). She is married to her husband, Charlie, and together they have 4 children: 2 adult daughters, Katie and Krysten and 2 teenage sons, Elijah and Rowan.
With 20 years ministry experience and a Masters in Theology from Duke Divinity School, Erin is passionate about Jesus and the church. Pastor Erin loves living in NE Portland, where not just the church but the neighborhood, is her parish.
Family Ministry Pastor:
Ashley Brassea, she her, hers
Ashley grew up in Atlanta, GA, and she is a podcast junkie. Some of her current favorite podcasts are Reclaiming Theology, Heavyweight, The Prophetic Imagination Station, Integrated Schools, and The Diversity Gap. Ashley loves board and card games, and she especially loves to play them with her four children, Cora, Marlowe Emmie, and Desmond. She cross-stitches regularly and does amateur crochet. She and her mom used to travel around to other churches and sing at their special events as a duo. As a child, she preached sermons to all her stuffed animals. She deeply enjoys reading about and practicing social justice and liberation theology.
Director of Music:
Lindsay Hogan, she, her, hers
Lindsay grew up in New York and graduated from Manhattan School of Music where she met her husband, Drew Hogan. They have an adorable pup named Schubert who loves cheese and cuddles. Lindsay has had fun writing, composing, and singing songs at Fremont. Lindsay likes teaching piano lessons and practicing calligraphy when she’s not at Fremont.
Music & Arts Coordinator:
Jonathan Roberts, he him, his
Jonathan grew up going to a Quaker church in Netarts, Oregon, and is still very interested in Quaker thought and practice. He has traveled outside of North America to Bali, Indonesia. There he got scuba certified, and fell in love with Bali’s people, animals, architecture, food, and jungles. He is a pescatarian for the second time now. He was vegetarian in college, then started eating meat again when he lived in New York City, then stopped again two years ago. Surely a permanent change this time. He has lived for at least one year each in Boston, NYC, and Philadelphia. After college he worked as a pianist on a cruise boat and toured the country with a Portland songwriter named Nick Jaina before moving to New York. The pianists who’ve influenced Jonathan the most are Brad Mehldau nd Robert Glasper. He has a son, Moses, and with his partner Alyssa, Adeona who was born in 2024.
Director of Community Development:
Diane Rheos, she, her, hers
Diane decided that community building was the key to solving life’s issues after reading “The Different Drum, Community Making and Peace” by M. Scott Peck in 1998. Her life mission continues from there. She has a BA in Business Administration from the U. of O. She’s a 4th generation Oregonian and her grandmother and Mother both have college degrees. She earned a Masters in Whole Systems Design at 50 and wrote her thesis on how we can co-create Communication Systems to bring our human- communication into alignment with how natural systems work. Because “That’s how God designed the world to work- interconnected and interdependent.” She would be happy to go on and on about this topic! She has a daughter, Nikala who is already 30(ish) and her best furry-friend, Pax, a cattle dog mix who often comes to work with her.
Treasurer/ Bookkeeper:
Carol Hancock, she, her, hers
Carol grew up in Northbrook, Illinois with filmmaker John Hughes as a classmate (“Home Alone,” etc.) She had a crush on him, but he never knew.
The movie, “Breakfast Club” was filmed at her high school, and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” was filmed in her town. She came to Portland to attend Reed College and was fortunate to practice Calligraphy with the legendary Lloyd Reynolds. However, she graduated the year before Steve Jobs attended so she missed out on meeting him!
She is named after her grandmother the Methodist pastor Rev. Carroll L. Shult, who served a UMC Church in rural Northern Illinois during the Depression & World War II era. Her passions in life are her home, her 3 fur-baby kitties, music, film, art, cooking, and tending to her beautiful back-yard garden sanctuary designed by her late-husband and herself. Currently, Carol is semi-retired, bookkeeping for Fremont UMC, and preparing tax documents with H&R Block during tax season. Fremont bookkeeper is the PERFECT job for her! She loves it at Fremont.
