Dear Fremont Family:
Do you have your new Fremont T-shirt yet? If not, then we have one ready for you! This summer, our Office Administrator, Diane Rheos, ordered t-shirts to display our new logo along with our core values: vulnerability, belonging and mutual flourishing. These t-shirts are intended to celebrate who we are and enable us to share our identity with our neighbors.
This Sunday, we will be experimenting with our Community Block Party held immediately following worship. The vision for this change was so that we could enjoy our meaningful time together in worship, and then linger afterward and extend the joy of our fellowship out into the community. We are planning a simplified version of our Block Party. There will still be food, games (both lawn games and board games), crafts (beads, origami, and a “Community Means to Me… canvas), and a Bounce House for the kids, but there will be no DJ. This year, we are going for a more “chill vibe.”
It would also be awesome if as many of us as possible wore our t-shirts for the Block Party! We will have stacks of shirts available in the Narthex on Sunday. We have all sizes (both men’s and women’s), even children’s sizes. And the t-shirts are free for everyone!
The beauty of our new logo conveys much about the spirit of who we are. Each piece of the design is intentionally representative of our life together. For example. the mosaic pieces represent our season of re-building and remaking ourselves post-pandemic (“picking up the pieces and making something beautiful”). Like the stained glass windows in our sanctuary, our fragments (vulnerability) come together to make new beauty and reflect new life. The spiral “stem” represents our shared life where we encircle one another with love and care (belonging), but that circle is not a closed circle. It is open to the community and to the world. We go out, others come in with welcome and flow. Finally, the larger “flower” is made up of distinct parts that include our broader relationships as part of our “community hub” (mutual flourishing). Together with neighbors and other organizations that use our building and share our space, we are part of an ecosystem where God’s blessings blossom and grow.
I hope you will join me this Sunday as we celebrate together the way that the Spirit is moving in our midst. Stay, play and eat, and show off (with your t-shirt!) our beautiful and powerful shared life.
Grace and peace,
Erin
